surgery update

Everything went really well today. They called me yesterday to tell me that they had bumped me up to a 7 a.m. start, which meant a 5:30 a.m. arrival. Yikes! So it was quite an early morning for us! I talked to the anesthesiologist before the procedure and she didn't seem at all worried about what happened last time I had twilight anesthesia, so that made me feel a little better. They got me all prepped and Dr. Vaughn stopped by to see me just before I went in. They wheeled me into the OR and immediately started my anesthesia. I looked up at the ceiling tiles for about five seconds before I started feeling fuzzy. I closed my eyes and the next thing I remember is sipping apple juice back in the room where I started with Monte. I was initially upset and said something to him about not having had the opportunity to ask Dr. V some questions I wanted to. He looked at me like I was crazy and told me I did ask all my questions. So weird. I apparently woke up in the OR, skipped recovery entirely because I was already awake, went back into my room and had an entire conversation with my doctor. But I remember absolutely none of this! Monte thought I was taking everything in because I appeared to be completely lucid and was asking all the questions I had intended to ask when we came in, so he paid very little attention to my exchange with Dr. V. He did remember that Dr. V said that I had one polyp which he was able to remove. It will be sent to a lab and we should get results within a week. Dr. V also said that everything else in there looked great and Monte was pretty sure he said I could start the bcp tomorrow for the FET cycle. We stayed at the hospital for about an hour for them to watch my heart rate. I am thrilled that I had absolutely no problems this time. My heart rate stayed right on target with no scary drops. The anesthesia didn't make me sick at all and we stopped at Rudy's for tacos on the way home. I've been in some pain this afternoon, but it isn't even as bad as the pain from the egg retrieval, so definitely not anything I can't handle! I called this afternoon and double checked everything Monte thought he had heard from Dr. V with my IVF nurse and she confirmed that we are good to go. I talked through my cycle timing with her and it looks like I will do two weeks of bcp, have a baseline ultrasound around 11/22, start estrogen then, have a lining check around 12/3 and my transfer will be 12/9 or 12/10. I am so excited that everything went well and looked good and that we are able to start the FET cycle with no delays!

I am so thankful for good friends who have helped us out this weekend. Thanks to canadagirl for the yummy banana chocolate chip muffins, abbysmom and taffy for the wonderful meals and all of my friends, family and nesties for the well wishes, positive thoughts and prayers!
